Let's start this one off by wishing Soulection a big Happy Birthday, and Happy Anniversary. From their website, to the label, everything started 4 years ago from this past Saturday, January 24th. 36 million something plays on SoundCloud and over 1.1 million downloads later, here they are. Now, I want to keep this post as brief as possible, because I don’t want to get carried away ranting about how incredibly dope this last show was, but damn, it was pretty sick if I must say so myself.

After recently changing venues from the Echoplex, to the Regent Theater in Los Angeles, this was Soulection's very first show at the new place. I’m not sure on the exact numbers, but I’m positive the Regent could hold a couple hundred more people than the Echo by the looks of it. Soulection had no trouble filling up the extra space; the show was completely sold out before they even released the line up. Little did these people know, they had actually bought tickets to what was quite possibly their best show yet. The line up featured Andres, Joe Kay, Andre Power, Lakim, GoldLink, Mr. Carmack, Sango, and Esta. Wow.. wow, wow, wow, wow. Where do you find a line up like that?! You don’t, not unless you made it out to the Selection 4 Year Anniversary show.

Here is the photo set from the show in chronological order from the beginning of the night, to the end; along with one of the most popular songs of the night to listen to while scrolling through the shots. I snapped all these photos on a 35mm prime lens with no flash, and did my best to catch all the light I could. I was worried at first that the 35mm wouldn’t be wide enough for this new venue, and that there wouldn’t be enough light without a flash... but everything turned out to be okay.

As always I'd like to give a huge thank you to the man, Joe Kay, for letting me come through and document the night; and an even bigger thank you to the whole entire Soulection crew for absolutely killing it last Saturday, and for always providing those good vibes!
