On an early Monday morning just before 2016, Mike & I had an exclusive invite to join our longtime friend Kory Lamberts (otherwise known as K-Lamb) at the gym to see what a fairly quick workout looks like for him. After the gym, we took a quick drive over to the DVC football field just to play around. Ever since I met Kory, he's been dreaming of playing football day & night. He's been playing for (12+) many years now. From youth leagues to high school ball at Alhambra, Martinez bred K-Lamb has been working his ass off to get to where he's at now. The year after we all graduated high school together would be a rough year for Kory(2013). He was supposed to be playing ball for DVC when his mom fell extremely ill, forcing him to work full time, withdraw from school completely & take care of his mother all at the same time, thus leaving no time for football. I remember at the time, Kory personally told me he thought he'd never be able to play football again. So that 2013 season was indeed a rough one.

Fast forward to the 2014 season. Just a couple games in, Kory’s initial appearances are looking solid. Everybody's excited to see the new kid on the field & he’s bringing an unmatchable energy to the DVC Vikings. Just as he's heating up, Kory suffers from a football player’s nightmare: a career threatening torn ACL. Unbelievable right? Doctors said he would probably not be able to completely recover from the injury, look at him now. He recovered in less than 10 months and was able to play a short season of 4 games, receiving 5 sacks & player of the week during week 8 as well as all conference. Talk about a strong comeback… This boy Kory just turned 21 years young, and I’m very proud to say he's a fresh recruit for the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders.

Kory Lamberts gone D1 football, seems like it was yesterday he & I were just talking about the idea of D1 football. We're just days away from K-Lamb’s departure to Tennessee and I believe I can speak for us all when I say I'm absolutely juiced and can't wait to see what this guy can do on the field. I can't wait to see what kind of monster they can get him to evolve into. What a journey it's been so far, just witnessing it all has been a pleasure and incredibly inspiring. To say it's really just the start of something great, it's almost hard to grasp. Those Rebels Inspired by Everything. Stay tuned for more on the family.
